چکیده

8 A controlled-release formulation (CRF) has been developed for metolachlor, which reduced its 9 leaching in a sandy soil and improved weed control in comparison with the commercial formula10 tion. The current study tested the effect of soil wetting and drying cycles (WDCs) on metolachlor 11 fate (desorption, leaching, and weed control) applied as the CRF and as the commercial formula12 tion. Metolachlor adsorption to a heavy soil (Terra-Rosa) was predominately to the clay minerals and 13 oxides. Metolachlor release from a heavy soil subjected to WDCs was higher than its release from the 14 soil not subjected to WDCs. Consequently, a bioassay in soil columns treated with the commercial 15 formulation indicated enhanced metolachlor leaching in heavy soils under WDCs. In contrast, when 16 metolachlor was applied as the CRF, leaching was suppressed and not affected by WDCs. These 17 results emphasize the advantages of the CRF also in heavy soils subjected to WDCs.

Potassium status of two clayey calcareous soils treated with zeolite under wetting-drying cycles

Zeolite application to clayey soils may change potassium (K) pools distribution and its release rate. To test this hypothesis, two heavy-textured calcareous soils with different mineralogy (smectitic and mixed by XRD) from southern Iran were selected. Experiment was a completely randomized factorial arrangement. Treatments consisted of two soils and two zeolite levels (0 and 5%) and wetting-dry...

تأثیر چرخه‌های تروخشک شدن بر برآورد تنش در آستانه‌ی تراکم یک خاک ریزبافت

Flood irrigation after planting induces wetting and drying cycles in arable soils. For this reason, the effect of this process on load-bearing capacity (pre-compaction stress pc) of a fine textured soil (silty clay) was studied. In this research, large air-dry disturbed soil specimens were prepared and some of them were exposed to five wetting and drying cycles. Next, the large soil specimens ...

Treatment of expansive soils with quality saline pore water by cyclic drying and wetting

Expansive soils can be found in many parts of the world particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. These soilspose a significant hazard to civil engineering structures due to its high swelling and shrinkage potential. This paperpresents the results of an experimental program developed to investigate the effect of cyclic drying and wetting on theswelling potential of expansive soils with variou...

تاثیر تناوب‌های خشک و مرطوب بر رهاسازی برخی عناصر از کانی بنتونیت در حضور اسیدهای آلی

The study of drying and wetting cycles in soils is important due to their effects on plant nutrition and soil fertility as well as environmental issues. Therefore, a laboratory experiment was set up with a completely randomized design and factorial arrangement in three replications to identify the influence of wetting and drying cycles in combination with or without application of organic acids...

Effects of Zinc Sulphate and Monocalcium Phosphate Fertilizers on Extractable Zn and Fe under Different Soil Moisture Conditions

ABSTRACT- To evaluate effects of different soil moisture conditions namely, phosphorus (P) and zinc (Zn) application, on extractable Zn and Fe, two experiments were conducted in laboratory conditions based on a completely randomized design with a factorial arrangement of treatments with two replications. The first experiment was performed with the following factors; incubation time at four leve...
